Prayerful Mondays

What are Prayerful Mondays...I need to be more purposeful in my prayers for others. I am WAY too good at praying for myself. I have decided to designate Mondays for pray requests. Each Monday I will share with you some of my prayer requests. Some are for blog friends, some best friends, and yes, some will be for myself (or my family). Please join with me in praying for each other. Oh...and if you have something specific or not so specific in mind for me to pray about, leave me a comment. Here we go...
  1. Our friends, Cassie and Carrie's granddad has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Please pray for healing and for peace for the Wood Family.
  2. Last week I mentioned Jenn Colley having baby Crew on Wednesday. Well, it's a week later and she's still pregnant. The plan is for her to have the c-section tomorrow evening. Pray for Jenn and Colby. Pray for their little one Camren as he has been sick this week. Pray for their doctor and for the nurses as well. Such an exciting time for them! God is so good.
  3. This weekend we found out that a student at Ryan's former school, Trinity Christian, killed himself. Ryan did not know the student. He was a new transfer this year, but our hearts break for our Trinity family who is hurting. Please keep the staff and students in your prayers this week as they prepare to move on from this tragedy. Pray for the student's family as they find themselves in the middle of a nightmare.
  4. Pray this week for your children's (or future children) salvation. Hug your children and DAILY tell them you love them. Introduce them to Jesus, the one who is your lover, comfort, and best friend during EVERY season. Show them the LOVE of the Father and that they never HAVE to be alone.
  5. Little Rhett is sick again. This time he's been throwing up. Please pray for him. He wants to feel better and tries but just can't do it yet. It's so sad to watch.
  6. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. All of us, I'm sure, have been touched by this disease in one way or another. Pray for a cure.
I hope you all have a great week!

Prayerful Mondays

What are Prayerful Mondays...I need to be more purposeful in my prayers for others. I am WAY too good at praying for myself. I have decided to designate Mondays for pray requests. Please join with me in praying for each other. Oh...and if you have something specific or not so specific in mind for me to pray about, leave me a comment. Here we go...
  1. Our cousins, Angie and Graham, just announced they are expecting baby #2. Please pray for a healthy pregnancy for mommy and baby. We're excited for Jackson to be a big brother.
  2. Speaking of babies, Jenn Colley is due with baby Crew this week. Pray for God's protection during the delivery and for some much need R&R before Crew makes his arrival. Crew will be welcomed home by mommy and daddy and big Brother Camren who just turned ONE! That's right, they'll be about 13 months apart. Congrats, Jenn, Colby and Camren!
  3. Humm, let's see. More baby news. Our old Small Groups, Matt and Heather Hanzelka, are expecting their first little one in May.
  4. Our cousin Carol just had the swine flu. Please pray her family doesn't get it, too. Carol and Lance have two little ones at home and boy it wouldn't be fun for the boys to be sick again. Oh and Carol is fine. The swine flu is just the flu. No hysteria. It stinks, but it's still just the flu.
  5. Our good friends, The Dukes should be closing on two houses soon (the one they're selling and the one they're buying). This is the second contract they've had on their current house. Please pray for everything to go smoothly, for all the finances to be in place and for God above all, to be glorified through them in the waiting process.
That's all for now. If you have any prayer requests, please let me know. I'd love to pray for you!

  1. Our little Rhett is sick. I'm gonna take him to the doctor later today. Please pray he gets well soon. I hate it when our guys are sick. It makes me sad.
  2. Pray for the Thomson family as they mourn the loss of their matriarch, Mary Ann. Her funeral is Sunday. Pray that arrangements go smoothly. They have a long journey ahead of them, please pray they feel the Lord's comfort every step of the way.
  3. My old college BSM friend, Jeanna has a job interview today. Pray for her to do well and for discernment and wisdom from the Lord for Jeanna and her possible new boss.
  4. Lots of sickness still spreading around school. Last week they had 34 senior out. That's half the senior class. The football team had to cancel their game on Friday because they didn't have enough players to play. We could really use a break from it all. I know the flu/swine flu is not just hitting us. Pray for a blanket of protection for all our friends out there. No one can afford to be sick these days.

  1. As I mentioned before, Toby, from our old church, The Heights Fellowship, was in a horrible motorcycle accident this week. Please continue to pray for his healing. He has a long journey ahead of him and could use the strength of his church family. If you'd like more specific updates, you can check out the webpage THF set up for Toby HERE.
  2. Continue to pray for all those pregnant mommies out there. I know some are close to delivery while others have a was to go. Either way they need prayer!
  3. Just got word that a dear friend of ours from our days at Turning Point Community Church is in the CICU in Lubbock. Doctors say it's, "hour-by-hour." Please pray! I don't know what's wrong, but God does!!!
  4. Today we visited West Conroe Baptist Church where the guest speaker was Don Piper. You might know him as the author of "90 Minutes in Heaven." He has such an amazing testimony. He was DEAD for 90 minutes and through the power of our Lord and people praying, he was brought back to life. Our God is still a god of miracles!  I pray that you experience a miracle in your life this week!
Have a blessed week!

  1. Lots of sickness going around TWCA!  Ryan had only 3 kiddos in his first grade classes last week.  Please pray for good health for all; teachers, students, families, etc.
  2. Ryan's parents are still trying to sell their house in Lubbock.  It's a great house!  They are having to live with Kaley and Chad until their house sells and they can but a new in Midland.  Can you imagine?  Four adults (plus Granny sometimes), two kids, and four dogs all under the same roof!  They definitely need a quick sell!

Prayerful Monday

What are Prayerful Mondays...I need to be more purposeful in my prayers for others. I am WAY too good at praying for myself. I have decided to designate Mondays for pray requests. Each Monday I will share with you some of my prayer requests. Some are for blog friends, some best friends, and yes, some will be for myself (or my family). Please join with me in praying for each other. Oh...and if you have something specific or not so specific in mind for me to pray about, leave me a comment. Here we go...
  1. Our dear friend's, Malee, Papa (grandfather) had his hip replaced last Friday. He has been so sick for so long. Let's pray for a quick and pain-free recovery. Pray for God's healing hand to be on him. Also, please pray for his family. They have been emotionally drained. Pray for the Lord to fill their cup with his energy and peace.
  2. Praise God! Our friends Kyle & Leigh Ann welcomed baby Brogan into the world on Thursday. He is such an answer to prayer after years of trying to have a baby. Pray for the Lord to give them rest as they bring home a new baby. Also pray for Brogan's sister in China, Brynlee. She doesn't know it yet, but her life will be changed for the better when she will soon be adopted into the Plumlee family.
  3. Another Praise! Our friends, The Longbreaks finally have a TWO jobs! We have been praying for months now (Tim has been out of work for 11 months) and now the Lord has provided for them.
  4. More babies news. One of my good friends, Aaron & his wife, are expecting a baby. She is only 6 weeks right now, so please pray for a healthy, sick-free pregnancy. Alison wants twins, so if you could say a prayer about that too, she would appreciate it ;-).

  1. Yesterday, Ryan attended a memorial for the mother of two of his students.  One of the students is a girl 7th grader and plays volleyball for him and the other is a boy Kindergartner and is in his P.E. class.  Their mother lost her 6-year battle with cancer.  I couldn't imagine losing my mother at age 29, but these two are still children.  The little boy has never known a time where his mother wasn't sick.  They found out she had stage 4 cancer when she was pregnant with him.  Ryan said she asked the Lord for 5 years with her children and praised Him because He gave her six.  Wow!  Please pray for this hurting family.  Pray for their friends and extended family, that they may be a comfort and a physical touch from the Lord.  Pray for Dad.  He has had to be both mother and father for the past six years, but still, the hurting is still severe.
  2. And the Lord gives a new life in the midst of this lost.  Ryan's best friend's sister, Mel and her husband Kurt welcomed Lily Kate last Thursday.  Pray for rest for the new parents.  Praise Him for a healthy baby girl!
  3. Our friends Nathan and Amanda just found out they're expecting TWINS!  Oh my, they have such an exciting road ahead.  Pray for a healthy pregnancy for Amanda.  Pray the Lord prepares them for parenthood and also helps them cherish this sweet alone time together.  I'll keep you posted on their Twin-birth journey.  It should be a great adventure.
I hope you all have a great week.  Let's remember to lift each other up in prayer this week.

Prayerful Mondays

After a month-long hiatus, Prayerful Mondays are back!
So, send me those prayer requests!

  1. More baby fever!  Our dear, dear friends, Cassie & Curtis are expecting their first little one in March.  Ryan's high school friend, Jessica and husband Brad just welcome little Addison.  His other high school friend, Erica and Sean just welcomed son, Cohen.  Please be praying for these new and soon-to-be new Mommys and Daddys.
  2. My in-laws are in the final stages of adopting Jazmin.  Please pray everything goes smoothly and fast!
  3. Our Cousin Carol has asked for some prayer warriors to cover her in prayer.  I don't think her list strays far from where we all need to be and fall short daily.  Let's make it a point to lift each other up daily.
  4. Ryan and I and the boys are finally beginning to feel settled in Conroe, but we haven't 100% settled on a church.  Pray that the Lord continues to lead us in this direction.  We want to go where he leads, not where it's easy or most comfortable.
  5. Pray for all those back-to-school kiddos, parents, and teachers.  Pray for calm nerves, peaceful classrooms and homes, and a spirit-filled presence be it a Christian school or not.

Prayerful Mondays - July 13, 2009
  1. Ryan has his Elite Volleyball Camp this week.  This is camp #6 I believe.  Please pray for the girls coming to the camp.  No injuries, good attitudes, and an open spirit.
  2. The twins and I are going on the road again.  We leave Monday for Weatherford to visit my parents and some friends.  Please pray for safe travels for us.
  3. So we found out this week that TWO more of our friends are PREGNANT.  What is in the Texas water?  Please pray for these two couples as they prepare for their little ones to arrive.  Pray for healthy and safe pregnancies for all.  I won't tell you their names until I have permission to post it on the WWW.  Once I do, I'll fill you so you have a name to go with the prayer request.
  4. Our friend Alisha's mom just got release from the hospital this week.  Pray for her health to continue to improve.  Poor Alisha, her family has had a lot of health issues this year.  They could ALL use some extra prayers headed their way.
That's it for now.  Let me know if you have any prayer requests.  Have a blessed week!

Prayerful Mondays - July 6, 2009

  1. My best friend is a nurse at UMC here in Lubbock.  She asks that we pray for the Pena Family.  I don't know any specifics about their situation, just that they could use some serious PRAYER WARRIORS right now.  Please pray for this unspoken request.
  2. Speaking of my best friend, Brandi, her cousin Zach is getting married this weekend.  Pray for the Kyle Family as they make their way to Arkansas for Zach's wedding.  They could use some travel angels watching over them .  Pray for Zach and Rebekah as they start this journey called MARRIAGE!
  3. Pray for Ryan's tennis camp going on this week.  Pray that the Lord meets the kids were they are and their hearts are open to receive what he has in store for them.
  4. So, I've been working at the MDA  office the last couple weeks, trying to recruit volunteers for their big event in August. Last week I called a businessman, Mr. B., asking him to attend the event and he said he couldn't commit because, "[he] doesn't know if he'll be a live by then." He told me he is in kidney failure and needs a new kidney ASAP - that if I knew of anyone who had a kidney to spare, they need to do it "soon." I can't shake this man out of head. I listened to the defeat in his voice.  Even his plea for a kidney wasn't a plea out of hope, but more out of a sarcastic, "yeah, right!" Please pray for Mr. B. Pray for healing both physical and spiritual. He could use a miracle.
I hope you all have a blessed week!

  3. Ryan has a FREE basketball camp for kids of all ages starting tomorrow.  This camp is on the East Side of Lubbock, so most of the kiddos will be from low-income, at-risk families.  Please pray for his camp as they try to reach out to this community.  Pray for the families and that God is soften their hearts so they will hear what he has for them.
  4. There is a LOT of traveling going on this summer.  Pray for all those on the road that they may be safe on the road.
  5. Our friends Carrie and Kyle work for NEXT Worldwide Missions. Carrie just returned from a trip to Kenya and Kyle from Romania.  Check out their blog HERE and the NEXT website for more information on their ministries and specific prayer needs.  Also, please pray for the people they left behind in Kenya and Romania.  God did some AMAZING things through NEXT.  Now, let's pray for spiritual growth.

Prayerful Mondays - June 1, 2009
  1. Ryan has a baseball camp this week in the BIG town of Nazareth. Please pray for safe travels for him and his dad, for kiddos to be drawn to the camp, for God's protection on all those involved, and for Ryan to get some much needed "rest" among the chaos.
  2. One of Ryan's former student's lost his mother on Friday after a long battle with cancer. She died the day after he graduated from high school. Please pray for this family. They need God's strength and peace during this difficult time. Ryan taught the oldest in bible and has his little sister on his volleyball team.
  3. The twins and I are headed to Weatherford this week for my dad's retirement party. I can't believe he's actually retiring. Pray for safe travels for us. Please pray for my dad as he starts this new phase in his life. Transition can be hard anyone - especially for a work-a-holic like my dad.
  4. One of my college friend's aunt was in a horrible car accident. She's been in the hospital for a while now and has just started breathing on her own and talking. She has a long road to recovery ahead of her. Please pray for healing for her. Pray for her family as they will need God's support to be there for her.
  5. My FIL is interviewing tomorrow for a job here in Lubbock. Please pray for him and the rest of the family during this time of change in their lives. They could definitely use some of God's provision and and to catch a glimpse of the road ahead.
  6. Our dear friends, Brandon and Annie are going to be Uncle and Aunt! Please pray for Annie's brother and sister-in-law as they prepare to be parents. This has been a much prayed for and long-awaited child (or children - you never know!). Pray for health and protection for mother and child.
  7. So many prayer requests this week. I know there so many of you moving. Know I'm praying for you guys, as moving is not the most relaxing time to be had.

Love,

Prayerful Mondays - May 25, 2009

  1. Praise the Lord! We made it back from our LONG trip to Oberlin, KS safe and with little incident. The boys were fabulous on the road. They slept and watched their movies the entire time. Little crying went on. About Abernathy they began to get restless, so we sang songs and looked for cows along the side of the road. That bought us enough time until we landed at Mimi and Poppi's house. Thank you Lord for the travel angels.
  2. More travel prayers to come. The next three weeks we'll be going across the state of Texas and back.
  3. Ryan has EIGHT sport camps this summer. I can't believe it! His first one is in Nazareth next week. It's a baseball camp. Please pray for Ryan, his coaches, and the kiddos who will be attending. Pray for God to control every aspect of Ryan's camps. We want him in control, not us.
  4. So this prayer request is a little different. I'll be honest with you. I normally don't pray for celebrities. It's not that I don't think they need it, I just don't think about it. Ever since I've read about the drama with Jon & Kate Gosselin (Jon & Kate Plus 8), I can't lose this feeling that they need prayers. Here are two people who are celebrities simply because they had a big family in an unconventional way. Let's remember that at one point they had God as the center of their family. Please pray that they remember their first love and return to the One who can ease their pain and repair their broken marriage.

I had my list all ready to post yesterday, and I forgot to post it. I know, I'm a slacker. Here are Monday's prayer requests:

Prayerful Mondays: May 18, 2009
  1. Please pray for the Longbreak Family. They could use a little help these days. Pray that the Lord provides Tim with a job ASAP. Pray that their family is provided for financially, emotionally, and spiritually. They could use the provision and power of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
  2. One of Ryan's students is having open heart surgery. Please pray that the surgery goes well and he heals perfectly.
  3. Our family is headed to Kansas this weekend for my family reunion. Pray for safe travel and good babies. It's a 9 and a half our drive!
  4. My prayer for you all is that you have a God encounter this week. Find a moment to sit at his his feet and listen to what he has in store for you. I pray that you are given a moment to take :).

Prayerful Mondays: ***UPDATE***

***UPDATE***
ROBYE'S LUMPS ARE BENIGN!!! NO CANCER!
PRAISE THE LORD!!!

So, I haven't been the best at keeping up with Prayerful Mondays during the month of April. I'm picking it back up in May based on the prompting of my cousin-in-law (thanks Carol!) I know prayer works. I believe it. I have faith and get my strength from it. I know God is glorified by it. I need to stop being selfish and pray more. Here's to a new beginning:

Prayerful Mondays: May 11, 2009

  1. My in-laws best friend went to MD Anderson last week to have tests run. The doctors suspect she might have breast cancer. This has been such an incredibly hard time for her and her family. Please pray for Robye right now. Pray for her husband, David and daughter, Britni. Pray for her doctors. More than anything, pray that God is glorified through McGuires and His spirit fills their life.
  2. Over the course of the last four years, my in-laws have gone through a rough battle to gain custody of their "foster" child, Jaz. A month ago they won the battle. The judge suspended parental rights of Jaz's birth mother. She in turn appealed the decision. Last week, they won that battle, when the courts refused to rehear the case. Now, they must wait 90 days before they can win the war. Jaz's birth mother has 90 days to appeal the appeal to the Appellate court. If they deny her appeal, that's the end. My in-laws can then begin adoption procedures. Can I ask simply for your prayers over this situation? Please pray for the Highleys as this has been a very stressful time both emotionally and (as you can imagine) financially. Jaz is worth it all, we know, but a little peace and relief would be greatly appreciated. Pray for Jaz as she is only 5 years and still remembers her other siblings and "mother." Pray that she will know who she is in the Lord first, as this all can be confusing. And lastly, please pray for Jaz's birth mother. Pray for her salvation. Pray that she may know the love of her Heavenly Father.
  3. PRAISE!!! Our Aunt Marka received results back from her own tests for breast cancer and it's NOT cancer! Thank you Lord!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. Please know how much you are loved by your Daddy in heaven. You are a treasure!

Prayerful Mondays - March 30, 2009

I have constantly talked about the sick babies out there who need our prayers for God's healing.  Here is one little guy specifically who could use a miracle.  Please pray for God to work another miracle in this guy's life.  To read about the first miracle God performed in Stellan's life, go HERE.  To be updated on where Stellan is today, click on the picture below.

Prayerful Mondays - March 23, 2009

  1. Cindi and baby Rachel are still hanging in there. Cindi went to the doctor and her amino fluids are UP! Yea!!!
  2. Please pray for my best friend, Ally. She goes back to work (she's a fourth grade teacher) after a long maternity leave. As you can imagine, this is a hard time for her. More than anything she would love to have more time with her boys. Pray that the Lord gives her a peace (and the boys as well).
  3. Continue to pray for our friend Malee's grandpa. He is still undergoing treatment for liver cancer.
  4. Update on our family friend, Robye's dad. He had surgery (as of Saturday) and came through it okay. Please continue to pray for healing for him and for his family.
  5. So much PRAISE for NEW LIFE! Mark and Chanda from our Small Group welcomed sweet Olivia Kate a couple weeks ago. We got to meet her tonight and she is so beautiful! Also, our cousins, Carol and Lance, welcomed this week Dashel Parker Dockrey. Here is picture of the young lad (thanks to cousin (and Aunt to Dashel) Charolet's facebook):

Prayerful Mondays

What are Prayerful Mondays...I need to be more purposeful in my prayers for others. I am WAY too good at praying for myself. I have decided to designate Mondays for pray requests. Each Monday I will share with you some of my prayer requests. Some are for blog friends, some best friends, and yes, some will be for myself (or my family). Please join with me in praying for each other. Oh...and if you have something specific or not so specific in mind for me to pray about, leave me a comment. Here we go...

Prayerful Mondays - March 16, 2009
  1. Our friend Carrie is in Mexico this week with NEXT Worldwide. Please be praying for her team as they help plant a new church. If you have a chance, go visit her blog for more information on her what they're doing and specific prayer needs.
  2. A good friend of ours, Trent, is retaking his paramedic test today in about an hour. Please pray for him as he takes this mucho important test.
  3. Last week Ryan' tennis team was able to show Christ to dozens of people at the homeless shelters they worked at. Praise the Lord! SEVEN PEOPLE WERE SAVED! Please be praying for these new Christains as they embrace the love of the only one who can fulfill and satisfy.
  4. Please pray for all the people traveling this week for Spring Break. There are several who are going on mission trips and others who are going away for fun. We would love for all of them to come back in one piece.
  5. Please continue to pray for Malee's grandpa as he is receiving treatment for liver cancer. Malee, know we love you and are praying for you guys a lot!
  6. As I read (or blog-stalk) other people's blogs, I read of a loss and heart ache for families as they loose loved ones. Please be in constant prayer for all those who are suffering the loss of someone dear.
  7. Ryan's cousin, Carol is due to have little baby Dockrey any day or even hour now. Your prayers for a FAST and COMFORTABLE and HEALTHY delivery are greatly appreciated - especially the fast and healthy part.

Have a blessed week!
