I Want to Know What Love Is...

...I want you to show me."  Go a head, NAME THE ARTIST
I remember the first time I took the "Five Love Languages" quiz.  I just knew that mine was WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.  And after calculating the results, I was right.  Or at least I made myself right, ya know?   Here's the problem.  At the time I didn't have a boyfriend or husband to share this with and I didn't really know what to do with my new-found knowledge.

Flash forward to this year.  Ryan and I took this quiz in our small group and low and behold, my love language is QUALITY TIME!  Can you believe it?  It's amazing what you can learn when you're truly honest with yourself.  My secondary love language is ACTS OF SERVICE.  You'd think I would have know this years ago because:
  1. I love making dinner dates, coffee dates, play dates with friends.
  2. Hosting and planning events and parties is one of my favorite things to do.
  3. I always wanted something to do with ALL my friends EVERY night of the week.
  4. I like to make up excuses and reasons to visit people from out of town or have them come to me.
  5. I tend to cry if plans get ruined and I miss an opportunity to see someone I love (i.e. my canceled trip to Houston in the Spring).
Ryan knows QT is my love language and goes out of his way to speak it on a daily basis.  He is PURPOSEFUL in his pursuit of showing me love.  I really do have a great husband.  I have to daily work at speaking Ryan's language (PHYSICAL TOUCH) because it's so NOT me.

Have you taken the Five Love Language quiz?  If so, what is the language you speak?

If it's been a while since you have taken the quiz, you might want to take it again.  You never know what you'll learn about yourself.  If you've never taken the quiz, go buy the book and do it (at any bookstore or by clicking on the picture above).  I promise you won't be disappointed.  Contrary to what I initially thought, love languages are for more than just husbands and wives.  My prayer is that the Lord reveals the Twins' love language to me so I might fill their "love tank."  By the way, the fifth love language is RECEIVING GIFTS and the artist for the song above is FOREIGNER.

An OCD Revelation & Summer Fun

My sweet Rhett has acquired a few of his mommy's OCD tendencies. Case in point:

Do you notice anything strange about this picture?

That's right. My OCD child was separating his books by type. The keepers, he neatly stacked up high. The throw-aways, well, they were not treated so kindly.

I know you all have been sitting at the edge of your seat, waiting with such great anticipation on how short I cut my hair, right?
Well, here's the before...

And here's the after:

Sorry the hair is not all "done-up," but I took the after picture early in the morning before I had a chance to get ready. I just wanted to get the blogging done, ya know? I just couldn't keep you all in supense for any longer! :)

I leave you with this video of the boys and Jaz playing with our Elmo sprinkler. I love to hear them laugh and play. It brings such joy to my heart! Don't forget to mute the player at the bottom of the page.

9-1-1 What's Your Emergency?

Cristo Rosa Hospital - Day 3 in San Antonio
Let me begin by saying I love my friend Cassie. She is precious and dear to my heart. Unfortunately, I was allergic to something in the robe she gave us as bridesmaids in her wedding. Wearing the robe before I washed it cause me to break out in an ugly and VERY itchy rash. This happened three days before we went on vacation.

I went that Tuesday to Grace Clinic because my PCP couldn't get me in for two weeks. The doctor gave me a steriod shot and a precription for an antibiotic because he said my rash was also infected. Go figure. Well, it was infected. And the medicine he gave me made me ultra sensitive to the sun. Have I mentioned that we were going to San Antonio for vacation?

Fast forward to Monday morning at 4 am. After a great Sunday walking around the S.A. Zoo and the Riverwalk, I wake up itching like crazy from face down my arms and on my legs (all the exposed areas). I take some benadryl and it knocks me out. I wake up with the boys again at 7:30 am and my face feels like its on fire. Go to the mirror and it is tomato red and about 2 sizes too big. Ryan goes to the concierge and asks where the nearest emergency clinic. We hope in the car, leaving the boys with my parents, go to the wonderful hospital.

The people there we very sweet and helpful. They were able to get me right in (they had a lot of sympathy). The Good doctor gave me some happy pills that took away the itch and took away the swelling. The vacation went on...

Let's analyze the face. Notice the red checks. Well, they are tighter than Dolly Parton's face (sorry, only analogy I could think of). The rash attacked the eyes as well, hence the just got out bed look on my face. The forehead and chin are fine. Here's some icing on the cake...the great doctor in Lubbock looked at me for 30 seconds and said, "Yes, I see the rash on your face, and it's on your forehead, too." My thought, "No, Sherlock, that's called ACNE! " I was about to start my period so of course my face was broken out to add insult to injury. This is me working up a smile. Unfortunately, my face was so swollen, this all you get. "Cheese!"

Here we are waiting in the examining room. The staff did get us in the back fast, but we still had to wait 30 minutes to see the doctor. I guess this is universal in the medical field. Doesn't Ryan have a great supportive face? Actually I think he was trying not to laugh at me. Seriously, he was great through all this. I have a magnificent husband.

This has nothing to do with my trip to hospital, but that it was in the hallway. How cool is a guitar-playing cow?
