On Tuesday, our Granny was watching the boys at the house while Ryan was at camp and I was working at the MDA office. After the boys woke up from their nap, Granny was playing peek-a-boo with them. Deacon was jumping up and down in his crib and well, confirmed why you should NEVER jump on your bed...
Exhibit A...

That's right folks, he bit his tongue! Well, I got home around 4:45, an hour after it happened, and it was still bleeding. We gave him a popsicle and it stopped, but then he ate yogurt and it opened back up. We wrapped a piece of ice in a rag and put it on the tongue and it stopped bleeding again just in time for us to meet a friend at McDonalds for a play date. Deacon played and even ate a french fry (I know, ouch!). Once we got home, we got the boys ready for bed and Deacon was drinking his nightly milk and yep, you guessed it, the tongue started bleeding again! By this time, it was 5 hours after the incident, so we decided it was time to take him to the ER just in case he might need sutures.
The ER visit was fine. Deacon acted PERFECT. No stitches/sutures. The doctor said unless it was bit in two, they don't usually do sutures for a tongue injury. He prescribed more popsicles and an antibiotic (to ward off infection) and sent us on our way.
To add insult to injury, sometime that day Deacon got bit by some insect on his right eyelid. I had to take him to the ER with a bloody tongue, swollen eye, and my MIL came so naturally he was screaming for her to hold him :). Praise the LORD Lex was our Triage nurse or they might have called CPS on me. :)

Ouch! Poor little guy! A friend of ours has a nearly 2 year old little girl who just got stitches in her tongue last week. (She blogged about it at Growing up Garner, which you can link to from my blog if you want to compare)
Hope everyone feels better soon!
